Wood Electrical Ltd is a team of electrical engineers based in Ipswich, Suffolk, serving the eastern region of East Anglia. It is an NICEIC Approved Contractor, which means its work is assessed against the standards of the industry's principal certification body rather than simply claimed to meet them. The company undertakes almost all forms of electrical work, divided into four areas. Domestic work covers installations, full rewires, lighting upgrades and fuse board replacements. Commercial work covers fit outs and the systems a working building depends on. Industrial work covers maintenance and fault finding on site. Fire safety is treated as a category in its own right rather than folded into general electrical work. The commercial side is set out in detail. Power supply and distribution covers main distribution boards, sub panels, circuit breakers and the wiring that regulates and distributes power around a building, designed to prevent overloads, minimise downtime and comply with BS 7671. Alongside that sit electrical wiring and cabling, containment systems, lighting systems, sockets and power, and testing, commissioning and maintenance. The company makes the point that getting distribution right at the design stage is what accommodates future expansion rather than forcing a rebuild later. The people behind the work are named on the site, which is not universal in this trade. Mark is the Qualified Supervisor, with more than 25 years of hands on electrical experience across residential, commercial and industrial sectors, and is responsible for the quality, safety and compliance of every project, for managing inspections and for mentoring the firm's electricians. Chris is Supervisor, with over 12 years in the trade and seven of those with Wood Electrical, and is responsible for making sure each job is carried out safely and to standard on site. Macauley is Contracts Manager, has been with the company for nearly ten years having started as an apprentice, is recently qualified in fire and safety installation, and oversees project delivery and client relationships. That structure, with a long serving Qualified Supervisor overseeing compliance and a contracts manager who came up through the company, is the practical reason behind the firm's reputation for reliability and professionalism. Staff have grown into their roles rather than arriving to fill them. The company's own summary is that one call can solve all your electrical needs, and between domestic installations, commercial fit outs, industrial maintenance and fire safety systems that covers most of what a property owner or facilities manager in the region is likely to need.
