Couples Therapy Imago Relationship Therapy is the model of therapy I use. It was created by Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly-Hunt in the 80s, and was made famous by Oprah Winfrey and Alanis Morrisette, both of whom used it for their own relationships. The whole basis for the therapy is positive conscious listening, and when you start to dialogue in the Imago way, the impact on your relationships is very exciting. Most people want to feel understood and appreciated. When you choose your partner/s it’s because you’re attracted to the way they approach life and sometimes life can take us in different directions, causing conflict. Sometimes our own defences seem to block our partner/s from being able to reach us.
