After you take it, the active ingredient vardenafil is absorbed into the bloodstream and then broken down in the liver, primarily by enzymes called CYP3A4. These enzymes convert vardenafil into inactive metabolites (breakdown products). From there, the body eliminates it in two main ways: Feces (major route): Most of the metabolites leave the body through bile into the intestines and are excreted in stool.
